Medical Cold Cap or Cancer Wig
Imagine a future where cancer wigs and chemotherapy wigs are no longer necessary. This could be a reality with the potential of a new medical cold cap. We currently offer cancer wigs for patients experiencing chemo or radiation-induced hair loss. However, with the development of medical cold caps, there is hope for a solution that could prevent hair loss altogether. These caps, specifically designed for chemotherapy hair loss, offer a smooth, light, and airy feeling, ensuring your comfort and providing a potential alternative to wigs.
The treatment uses cold caps on the head to cool the scalp and prevent hair loss during chemo. Cooling the scalp has been used for a long time to constrict the blood vessels that lead to the hair follicles during chemo treatments. The super cold temperature reduces the number of chemo drugs that reach the hair follicles, which decreases the side effects of hair loss due to chemotherapy.
How The Medical Wig Cap Works
The scalp must be pre-cooled before chemotherapy begins. The process cools the scalp to a below-freezing temperature, minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit. The cold temperature should stay this cold for 3 to 4 hours after the treatment. In the future, instead of a medical wig, a new scalp cap product by DigniCap is nearing approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. A five-year U.S. clinical trial of DigniCap found that 70% of those who wore caps during their chemo treatments did not suffer hair loss, providing a high level of confidence in its effectiveness.

Future Smart Wig - Dallas Report
The “smart” wig is a unique wig equipped with a circuit board that reads brainwaves. This type of wig is not currently available in Dallas, TX, but it may be available soon. The smart wig is patented as a “wearable computing device.”
The smart wig is created by Japan’s Sony Computer Laboratory (CSL), where a hairpiece and computer chip are interwoven with wires. There are three types of smart wigs: one with a built-in laser pointer for slideshow presentations, another with GPS for navigation, and a third that measures body temperature and blood pressure.
These wigs are made of human hair, synthetic hair, or other materials to conceal the circuit board. They can wirelessly communicate with a smartphone to provide feedback to the user through vibrations or small electric shocks, known as “tactile feedback.”
Techno Medical Wig
The techno-medical wigs are an innovative addition to the world of wearable computing, similar to Apple glasses. The intelligent chip in the wig uses GPS to guide users to their destination through tiny ultrasound vibrations on different parts of the head.
These wigs may also assist blind individuals in the future. Additionally, they can measure vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and brainwaves. An intelligent wig can even record sounds and images based on facial expressions or brain activity. It’s possible that these smart wigs will be available in Dallas, Texas, wig and hair replacement shops in the future.
